Kaua’i, January 19 2022

The helicopter tour over Kaua’i was nothing less than spectacular.  We saw parts of the island that can be seen no other way.  Sometimes you wonder if a given tour is a little too touristy, and I thought perhaps this was it.  I was wrong, parts of this island can be seen only by the most skilled and avid hikers and other parts cannot be seen at all except by helicopter up close, and fixed wing aircraft flying at a higher altitude.  The helicopter is better.  This was not a thrill ride, the thrill was seeing Kaua’i so completely.

After our flight, we drove to our Princeville Condo, stopping along the way to View the Wailua Falls, famous for being in the opening scene of the long running television series “Fantasy Island”.  The falls are impressive, to twin falls, over 170 feet high with water also shooting like a fire hose out of lava tubes in about a third of the way down the falls cliff.  These falls are impressive, however after viewing dozens of falls from the helicopter the significance of this one was dulled.  I should return to it another time.

We finished the night stargazing from our balcony.
