Island Hopping 2024: Giarratana, Recovery and Restocking

Wednesday April 3:  Since I made my health front and center in these posts, I must say that Wednesday morning things were noticeably better.  Still completely without hearing but as long as I kept swallowing the pain pills I could function.  I think the fact that I could hear nothing made me feel like I was underwater which was disorienting, but still, I was on the mend.  I wanted to go out and do some local exploring, but Sandy who had put up with me the last several days would have nothing to do with it.  We were to stay at the house and I was to heal.

Since we had arrived at the house we had not done any stocking of our food supplies. I began wondering what Sandy had been eating while I had been laid up.  The host had supplied us with some fruit and pastries.  I’m pretty sure that is what she had been living on; that and the big Easter Chocolate Egg had become suspiciously smaller.  I talked her into a trip to our local grocery store, about 5 minutes away.  There we picked up a few staples and a frozen dinner.  Sandy made friends with Veronica, the deli lady, who sold her some olives, and then we came back home.  There! That was it. That was our outing for the day, probably less than an hour, but it felt good to be out again.
