Kā'anapali, Maui, February 6, 2022

Glenn and Susan drove into Lahaina to explore the town.  Sandy and I stayed close (walking distance) to the condominium.  Certainly after five days on the boat there was plenty to do, i.e., laundry, reorganizing.  We did walk along the little commercial district on the other side of the highway and picked up a few snacks.  From the balcony we could see that the whales that were entertaining us yesterday, still were out there frolicking in the waves.  There is also a constant line of surfers waiting for that next big wave.

In the evening Sandy and I walked along the beach at sunset.  There we found the ocean was full of sea turtles.  And, it wasn't just the animals in the ocean that caught our attention.  We found a group of senior citizens with their beach chairs all lined up and facing the setting sun.  A man was softly playing the ukulele, then as the sun settled into the horizon everyone started blowing into conch shells. It seemed to be a little ritual that they had been following for a long time.
