Kingman, AZ

Early this morning I walked down to Bright Angel Lodge for our morning coffee.  With the temperature at subfreezing, I was pretty well awake before getting that coffee.  Still, the path from El Tovar, where we were staying to Bright Angel is along the rim and really not a bad way to start any day.  After coffee we packed up, took one last look at the canyon and resumed our "Route 66" odyssey.

One of the small towns that we passed through along the way to Kingman was Seligman.  This town is all about servicing the historic route 66 tourist trade.  The kings of Seligman were Angel Delgadillo, the town barber and his brother Juan.  The two of them spearheaded the movement to establish Arizona's "Historic Route 66".  Juan ran the "Sno Cap Drive-in", still in business and Angel was the town barber and Route 66 historian.  Because of his efforts, Seligman, instead of a being a ghost town, lives.

I remember the old Burma Shave signs, so does Arizona Route 66.

And another one:
