Island Hopping 2024: Giarratana, Living like a Sicilian

Sunday April 14:  Today was a day to relax and live like a Sicilian, that is sometimes Sicilians just stay at home.  That’s what we did.  Almost.

The pasticcini to choose from.  Note: no cannoli in the the case, no self respecting Sicilian would purchase a "pre-filled" canolo.  You order it, and they take a pre-made canolo shell and then put the crema in it.

We did run down to the café for coffee/tea and some of those delicious pastries.  That is something that I just can’t do as perfectly back home.  We also explored some of the roads just outside of town.  If I follow CarPlay, heading towards Catania, I invariably end up at the make shift dump at the end of a paved road, and once a small forest fire being fought from the air with helicopters and airplanes.

Pretty sure that we have figured it out, we headed home where Sandy took care of some laundry and other household issues and I got caught up on the finances.

The house we spent the day in
