Copenhagen (København)

I tried hard to find a sports bar in Stockholm that would stay open and broadcast the Ohio State vs Notre Dame football game.  I was sure that there would be a group of expat Buckeyes or if need be, Irish graduates meeting at some bar to watch the game at 1:30AM local time.  No dice.  I am unable to run my streaming service over here so I could not watch the game on one of my devices.  Nothing on the television but soccer and, of all things, team handball, which is sort of like water polo without the water.  I finally had to settle for streaming WBNS FM Columbus in my computer and listen to the game that way.  The game ended around 5:00AM local time, but with the Buckeyes winning, it was worth it.

We had a train to catch to Copenhagen.  This was a fairly easy jaunt with only one train change just on the south end of Sweden and I had the chance to get back some of that sleep I lost last night.  We then caught a regional train that crosses the Baltic Sea via the combination of the Øresund Bridge and the Drogden Tunnel.  The bridge and tunnel were completed in 2000 and I can remember how I thought it was amazing that you could now drive or take the train from Sweden to Denmark.  Today this is just "ho-hum" stuff with dozens of commuter trains racing back and forth across the bridge everyday.

Nonetheless, we emerged from the Copenhagen Central Train Station into the pleasant evening air of Denmark, the warmest that we have been since Edinburgh over a month ago.

Waiting for our train
