The Paris of the Arctic. Tromsø is the northern most city of any size in the world with an urban population of around 72,000 people. It is the home to the Arctic University of Norway, in turn making that the northern most university in the world. Today Sandy and I walked through the streets of Tromsø in our shirt sleeves. The last few days it has been warmer here near the top of Norway than it was through any of our time in Scotland. Upon docking, we took a taxi (there is no legal Uber in Norway) to the base of the cable car that goes to the top of the mountain ledge called Storsteinen. We rode up the cable car with young locals, other tourists and one guy with a parachute who was going to base jump off the cliff. The heart-stopping sights from the height of the ledge will always be unforgotten by Sandy and me. Of course, everything that we have seen on this leg of the trip is unforgettable. There is beauty, and rare beauty, I think the northern coast of Norway is the latter. Taking the cable car back down we walked about three miles back to town which included a trek across the Tromsø Bridge. Then back on the Havila Castor and more enthralling scenery.
