Dundee, Pitlochry Lawnbowling

Today we moved from the north of Scotland back towards the South.  We drove through more of these treeless green mountains that make it hard to keep your eyes on the road.  The destination was Dundee.

We did take an extended break (about four hours) in the little town of Pitlochry.  This is one of those "I think I could live here" towns.  To begin with, everything is kept as neat as a pin.  And, flowers and gardening seems to be everyone's pastime.  Backyards, restaurants, ditches, courthouses and churchyards nothing but flowers.

Pitlochry has a lawn bowling club with a beautifully maintained bowling green.  We saw no-one was bowling so Sandy and I stepped inside the gate to look.  It wasn't long before a gentleman, John, the president of the club, came along, introduced himself and started telling us about the sport.  Long story - short; John started giving me a quick lesson on bowling.  Not long after, Agnus, one of the better female  bowlers had me out bowling a game with her.  All in all, a nice way to spend the afternoon, walking back and forth, rolling a lopsided ball, and having pleasant conversations with nice people.

It helps to lean after you roll

Agnus was a serious and good teacher
