 STILL IN TULSA

After Carl and I spent a few hours at the Tulsa State Fair, we found our way to Oral Roberts University, another focal point of this city.

I don’t know when I have seen such a beautiful campus with such impressive young people!  The student body is around 4,000 and the student/teacher ratio is 17/1.  The philosophical goal is to prepare students in mind, body and spirit and to develop “whole leaders for the whole world”.

Everyone we bumped into greeted us with a smile and made great eye contact.  The campus has rather unique architecture and I’m not sure how it would be characterized but the grounds were acres of beautiful park-like settings that were immaculately maintained.

Here is the Prayer Tower…

While it is obvious that this is a religious based university, it certainly didn’t foist any particular religious philosophy as we explored the campus…just interesting architecture, landscaping and people.

The student resource building was interesting inside and outside…

We continued to walk around the campus and enjoyed seeing the various buildings in the park like settings.

Probably the most recognizable structure is the Praying Hands monument that can be seen from the highway.

This urban based campus left me with a positive and a safe harbor feeling.  Nice visit!
