 DESTINATION: OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA

Woolaroc

While interesting in the line of local history and business success, I was not that enthralled to go visit the personal home of Frank Phillips, the founder of Phillips 66.  However, as usual, I ended up being quite impressed with the personal values of Mr. Phillips (and most likely the good woman behind him).  His home in Oklahoma obviously was a place he came to from New York City (where he ran the Phillips 66 company) and he found his solace here.  He was a collector of things from all over the world and this is the place where he housed each item.

This is the outside of the museum.

These are closeups of the decorative entryway door.

A wonderful collection of Ancient Southwestern pottery

The only dinosaur egg in a private collection …

Many excellent artifacts of Native Americans

Interesting stories of the pioneer women

In addition to the museum, the personal home of the Phillips family displays preserved animals from all over the world.  Mr. Phillips was not a hunter but he received most of these animals from zoos, circuses when animals naturally died.  I think he enjoyed the various LIVE animals he collected on his ranch; a herd of buffalo, zebras, emus, big horn sheep and many others.
