 DESTINATION: Amarillo,  TX

Here are some little things along the way on a very cold day.  Yesterday it was 97 with full sun and wind; today it was in the low 40’s once we got into Texas.  What a surprise!

Most of the museums we were going to visit were closed, being Sunday, but it doesn’t mean we don’t take photos.  I’m kinda glad this one was closed…how many pieces of barbed wire can one take in/enjoy?!?

This next museum may have been a little more interesting to me…and at least I enjoyed the outside statue and the tank that served as a monarch butterfly way station.  Before water was brought into the town of Wheeler, this held water for the horses that businessmen came into town on.  Astronaut Alan Bean was born in this tiny forlorn town.  Here is his statue.

Surprisingly, we saw quite a few huge cotton fields…this one was close to a huge cross.in Groom, TX.

For being on flat prairie ground, this water tower had a problem.

More iconic Route 66 scenes…
This is what we frequently saw on the road…little like sage brushes that blew onto the pavement but stuck like Velcro
One more little abandoned gas station on old Route 66.  Raindrops were very close to being snow ❄️ !
