There is no place on earth like the islands of French Polynesia. But can't that be said about everywhere we visit? Each is a place unique to itself, with its own charm, culture, beauties, dangers and cuisines. This blog is intended to share some of our travel experiences with others who may have our same wanderlust, same cultural curiosity, and same interest in the foods and drinks of the world.
This picture is of Sandy contemplating the vastness of the Pacific Ocean from the infinity pool of our over-the-water bungalow at the Conrad Hilton, Bora Bora. We took that vacation, one year before Sandy retired. Our plan was to travel four to five months a year after her retirement. We started out pretty good with extended travel to Costa Rica (three times), Europe and Maritime Canada.
On the eve of a four month trip to Europe to explore the Six Celtic Nations (Cornwall, Wales, Ireland (both the Republic of and Northern), the Isle of Man, Scotland and Brittany) Covid-19 struck and the world of travel shut down.
Now in the Fall of 2021 we are preparing to stick a toe back in the water, starting with a couple of domestic trips. The first will be to finish travel started many years ago, the completion of a Route 66 road trip. The second being a seven week excursion to Hawaii.
